REPORT – child refugees in Polish schools
The Polish Migration Forum visited schools where child refugees and asylum seekers are learning. At the request of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), we prepared a report on the education of these children in Poland.
We talked to children, teachers, social workers, the superintendent\'s office, migration and education authorities, psycologists and lawyers. It turns out that Polish laws are quite favorable – children applying for protection and those under protection have the right to go to Polish schools.
Why is it possible then to count teenagers with a refugee status who are actually being educated in Poland on the fingers of one hand? How many foreign children have spent just one day in a Polish school? What kind of problems do schools have with foreign children? What do Polish 10-year-olds think about all this? See the attached report to find out.
See the reports section for files with selected chapters.
